Just wanted to mention that one of the members to our board is from the Punta Gorda area in Florida. Where the hurricane hit yesterday. Hope everyone is OK.

Hey, doing better than we have any right to be. Most important: Everyone alive and accounted for. Fled Friday morning with husband, 2 dogs and 2 cats to stay with friends in West Palm Beach on the other coast, and drove home Saturday expecting to find a pile of rubble instead of a house. The house is, unbelievably, completely intact without even a single window broken. Roof intact. Boat still sitting on its trailer. Little shed completely destroyed, big shed intact but several feet from where it used to be. Beautiful giant oaks totally uprooted and many other trees lost as well. Greenhouse gone (probably in the next county), orchids scattered across the yard but salvageable.

Water is back on. No power for at least 2 weeks, but have generator from father-in-law. No phone service, either landline or cell, but satellite dish provides internet access as long as there's gas to run the gennie.

Thanks for your concern. We're doing so well, considering, that we can't complain about a thing. Neighbors and friends also doing well. Some had house damage, but everyone has a clean dry place to sleep, and the emergency crews are working their butts off to make sure there's water and food for everyone.
