View Full Version : Blue Box Template - How To Change In The Spotlight Listing

I have the great blue box template but when I edit a listing and change the "Featured Listing" the feature listing does not change in the "In The Spotlight" box of the blue template.

In the blue box template user_top.html I "think" this is the line that controls it:

<?php renderFeaturedListingsVertical2(1); ?>

How do we get the featured listing changed in the "Spot Light" based on what they pick in the admin panel?

NOTE: This ONLY only occurs if there is MORE THAN ONE featured listing. Is there a way to tell it which one to use in the "Spot Light" - like a addon or mod?

Why do you have a renderFeaturedListingsVertical2 function?

Have you tried to use just the plain, old renderFeaturedListings function to see if there's something wrong with the function you're using? Go back to the basic version and see if it works. That would tell you if something is wrong with your function or not.

Hi

in the blue 1 design the
<?php renderFeaturedListingsVertical2(1); ?>
is a new code/ mod that has been done to show only one f/listing

That you can only have 1 f/listing listed at any one time, unless the code
is set up to be random.

function found in the style.php

renderFeaturedListingsVertical2(1);

Thanks for the info....

How would I change it then to be a random of the feature listing?

Meaning - still only have 1 featured listing, that is what the blue template does, but have it random if there is more than 1 featured listing selected when they enter them into the listings?

Now - if there is a way - can you tell me where to place it -baby step please - I am learning :)

I appreciate that, but I've already made massive mods to the template and I'd hate to overwrite everything. Can you tell me where to find the code to make the random features?
Thanks! Mike

This is just not working. I replace all the code in style.php for the

function renderFeaturedListingsVertical2($num_of_listings)
to
} // end function renderFeaturedListingsVertical2

and I get on the page:
There's been a problem -- please contact the site administrator

and I get a SQL ERROR email:
69.210.129.111 -- January 31, 2005, 8:12:35 am -- SELECT ID, Title FROM default_listingsDB WHERE (featured = 'yes') ORDER BY RAND()
