Hi all.

I just installed the program 2.0.1 and all looks great so far. However, I am having a few issues.

1.) I did a test register and when I log in it refreshes the page (You need an account to access this area of the site. If you do not have an account click here for registration.) making you think you are not logged in. However, in actuality you are logged in because at the bottom of the page the logout button is there. This is very confusing.

2.) When logged in I do not see anywhere that I can add a listing.

Your help is appreciated

I am having exactly the same problem with the program.........The log-in screen returns after logon. This is a bug I think. After login one should be directed immediately to the index.php main page (I think)

I also miss two additional but related things......unless I do not understand the program::
1. I thought it is the intention that an agent can register by him/herself? If yes I have no link?
2. I also tjought that it is the intention that an agent uploads his/her own properties/listing however I do not have a link to do so?

Please somebody advise?

I will look into the login issue not refreshing to the right page.

The link for an agent to signup is not on the default template as a lot of people do not use it. YOu can add a link for agents to signup to the menu by editing the main.html file in the vertical-menu template and adding the following line, where you see the rest of the menu items.

<li><a href="{url_agent_signup}" title="Agent Signup">Agent Signup</a></li>

Once the agent is signed up they need to login to the /admin/index.php page and they will be given a link to add listings.

Thanks Greengiant for your assistance. I put the link for the agents which now appears. However, although it says that I am logged in as an agent now, it has no link to click to list.

1. How do I get the link to show for agents once they are logged in?

2. What is the actual use for 'members' I am a little confused as to why this exist rather than just one log in for agents. What is the asset for the member by signing up?

3. You mentions that no one really uses the default template, can you please let me know what people are using instead?

Thanks,

Charles

1.
{check_agent}<li><a href="http://www.yourdoamin.com/admin/index.php" title="Agent Signup">Agent Signup</a></li>{/check_agent} I forgot to have a {url_agent_login} tag I have added it infor 2.0.2.

2. Members are visitors to the site who can save favorite listings and save searches. They will also get email notificiations when new listings are added that match there saved search criteria.

3. I worded that poorly. I meant not a lot of people use the agent signup links, not that they didnt use the template.

Thanks,

Charles[/QUOTE]

Thanks Greengiant,

I am wondering a few things:

1.) Thanks the link now works and brings me straight to agent admin which looks similar to the main admin section?

2.) Any idea when 2.0.2 is expected?

3.) Thanks for explaining the members vs the agents it all makes sense now.

4.) Any reason why very few people would use the agent log in? It seems to me that it would be the most important link as agents are the ones that have to list the item and get their listings seen? Just wondering to see if I might be missing something here.

Thanks again.

Once the agent logs in at the admin/index.php url the first button on the page should be the Add Listing button... 2.0.2 Will be out later week, i have a few changes to still get done.It shoudl be workign in 2.0.1 with the link i posted... As far as why people dont use the link, I think a lot of sites don't want that link on a public page, they can give it to there agents to bookmark, it come more into play in large office and sites where you are letting agents signup and list there listings, not so much for the local real estate office.

Thanks again Greengiant, I am looking forward to the next update.

Now that I am in the agent admin I see a few things of concern:

1.) To give you an understanding of my site it is a local realty section for agents to list their items on their own with future fees applied to do so. This is not to mention obviously enabling local people looking for properties an additional place to find homes.

2.) I see that their are some things accessible to the agent that I think should only be accessible to the actual webmaste or system admin. For example:
a.) Edit Agent template
b.) Edit Member template
c.) Edit Listing template
d.) View Site Log
e.) Addons Framework
f.) Open Realty Links
g.) Active Listings: Inactive Listings: Number of Agent: Sections

Are these showing up for the agen in error or do I have something set incorrectly allowing them to see this private information?

Thanks,

Charles

Charles,
You can switch those functions off for the agents or members in the Configuration. (Logon via admin/index.php as administrator). A section describes about "Are New Agents allowed, etc" If you say "NO" to for instance "Edit Member Template" this template editing function does not show up when the agent is logged on to the backend.
I have done this function and it works perfect. The agent only sees his own profile and can add listings. The rest of the admin panel is not visible for him/her. Just verify and play with the settings of the Configuration and it will happen perfectly for you!

Charles,

My guess is use set agents to be admins by default, which would give them access to all thoose links. Turn that off and create a new agent.

Ok here we go. I deleted all agents as I already had changed the permissions but for some reason they must have stuck assigned to the agents giving them almost full permissions. This part works now as they only have 'create listing', 'edit listing' and edit 'account'.

However, I still see that they have access to see:
A.) 'General Information':
Active Listings:
Inactive Listings:
Number of Agent:

B.) Open Realty Support links which should be for me the admin and not the public. I am sure I can edit this out though.

c.) Addons Framework is also visible. By the way what does this do?

You have been a lot of help and it is appreciated.

Good questions......I am thinking about the same. However I do not think you can edit this out because I think it is just a "filtered" admin panel. However I also would like this to be invisible for the agents..... Charles do you have an option how we can filter out these A/B/C topics? Maybe via a button in the config just as the rest?

Mamboindo,

As most of us would agree, certain things should remain admin only and these mentioned in my opinion are just those types of things. I think you hit it on the nose when you said "make it a button like the rest".

I think making it an icon button like the rest of the admin features would be best that would only be visible to us admins.

Nonetheless, I am finding that this script is pretty outstanding compared to what it was about 2 years ago when I saw it. I still have the automobile one that jonroig did and I am using it for a car site.

framework addon, should not have been included in teh package that was my fault, you can just remove teh framework directory from the addon folder. It is just a exmaple for developers.

The general info showing up for non admins is definalty a bug. I will get that fixed for 2.0.2 which will be out later in the week. I have one addon to finish that is requiring additoins to teh addon system which i want to make sure are all in and working boefore teh 2.0.2 release.

did not hear me say anything different.....I can handle it pretty fast without having any PHP-knowledge (but 2 years mambo-experience). So I cannot agree more.... ;)

However Godfather Ryan?????? What's with a button or three????

{check_agent}<li><a href="http://www.yourdoamin.com/admin/index.php" title="Agent Signup">Agent Signup</a></li>{/check_agent} I forgot to have a {url_agent_login} tag I have added it infor 2.0.2.

Think you missed in the "hurry" little code.......this did not show up....however this does:

<li><a href="{http://www.yourdomain.com/admin/index.php"} title="Agent Login">Agent Login</a></li>

Think you should add this to the 2.0.2 version? As you see I changed signup to login. Reason is that the agent signs up from the frontend and not from admin? Login goes from admin....completely agree
