Is there any way you could create a warning page if the admin is deleting an agent that says "All listings associated with this Agent will be deleted as well. Do you wish to proceed?" I think it would save people a lot of headaches.

You should submit a feature request for this, posting it here does not insure the developers see it.
You can do this from the main forum page.
In the current version there is a popup confirmation box that you must click OK to approve or cancel to go back...
Are you sure you want to delete this user and all the listings / records entered by them?

Could you possibly word this a little stronger? "Deleting this user will delete all listings associated with him/her. Are you sure you wish to proceed?"

You can word however you want. Just edit the lang.inc.php file.

Master,
I think you were a bit harsh with lannaCR, as I have been in these forums for two days now searching for clear docs (there aren't any that I could find) and that sugestion is the best that I have seen in this forum! I deleted admin (no warning) who wouldn't? someone elses phone # etc. and first time a lockout has happened to me with any (many) scripts.
In my humble opinion your offering is too good to overlook such a common pitfall for the average user. Clearly there should be a warning (at least within install docs; in bold print!

So, you mean to say that the version I downloaded from open-realty yesterday is not the current version?
There was no popup! It was a 1 click on drop down menu (deactivate user or something) and bam! Lockout!!!

I didn't mean to sound harsh. You'll notice that I made that post at 1:38 AM. After being up since 7:00 AM that day, working 10 hours, then coming home and coding for 5 hours. Plus checking in here at least twice an hour and responding to posts where I could help the whole day.
I deleted admin (no warning)
If there was no warning then you aren't running the most current version.

You can't see the link in my signature?
Remember that OR is a FREE script. The developers, documentation team (person), and supporters are volunteering their time to give/support this script. These people have jobs and families to support and do the best they can to make OR as good as it is. Maybe if their were more volunteers to help out with the documentation and other items, everything would be better covered.

There is no warning when changing a user from active to inactive. The warning is when you try to delete.
Why would anyone, when logged in as admin, go in and make themselves inactive?

Yes, I understand! I have the same problem and have no idea how you do it. I have nowhere near your programing skills, and I am aware is free open source. I commend you and all contributors.
However though I did download what appeared to be current version twice; once stand alone and again with virtual tour mod (on a side-note: I noticed no difference with virtual tour mod before I locked myself out)
Could you please send me a link to current version?
I appreciate your quick response :D

The same reason people climb mountains...because it was there...I was actually just trying to change phone numbers and I saw what I thought was an easy way to remove something I didn't want to display.
If I thought it would let me delete myself then ofcourse I wouldn't have tried it.

Before you climb a mountain, you make sure you are prepared. You wouldn't walk up to a cliff and jump off to see what would happen. Would you???

You programers have a lot to learn about community's!
Why are you so defensive?
You need to consolidate your documentation, and develop a helpful community, not a defensive one!
I also spend many hours coding, and sometimes I get tired too! I locked myself out, so no big deal cuz open-realty is an easy install/re-intall but in trying to help with feedback as this has never happened to me before with any script!
You guy's just want to shoot me out of the water for contributing an opinion!

Again it's about poor documention.
Climbing a mountain because it is there is a metaphor, and has nothing to do with jumping off cliffs! People do not jump off cliffs "because they are there"
but you did program an option to jump off a cliff with one click!
first.. when I said I would walk to a cliff and jump off.. I really ment I actually do that (well at least in teh summer when the water is warmer)
As far as the rest of this goes... I work very hard on the documentation.. if you think there is something that could be better about it then please write it up and send it to me and I'll take a look at it
Regarding locking yourself out... I think changing yourself to inactive is pretty self explanitory and doesn't require a lot of documentation. And besides, in my experience so far, very few people read the documentation before they do something, only look at it after they messed something up and usually then only after they are told that it was already documented by somebody else.
The best place to post something like this would be the bug tracker/feature request system as that's where it will get attention and consideration in adding something to the program.

I agree, however since this is the only script that I have personally seen that gives you the option to lock yourself out of admin, at least a one sentence warning would be called for.
And as far as posting elsewhere: I have zero motivation to do anything here except to defend my position, and these attacks on my shared opinion.
The reason I posted here is because I did a forum search for the problem that I had encountered, and it landed me here. There is nothing in the docs to address this issue.
Also I disagree: people do read the docs before an install if they don't get too worn out just looking for them!

So some here, complain, and do nothing to help fix the problem.

So the link on the OR main page, http://www.open-realty.org, and the link to the documentation on step 3 of the install process are too hard to find?
