vertical listing numbers

Sorry if there is an answer to this already, but I can't find it. I want to limit the number of vertical listing photos in the search listings area. I have 30 featured listings to appear in the main page, and would like to limit to 8 in the search pages, using the featured listing vertical option. I know how to do it with the horizontal scripting, but when I apply the same to the vertical template, no photos appear. I tried several script configurations, but it still eludes me.
I'm probably looking too deep into this, or perhaps it's tied into core files?

There is no way to do this with the default featured listings function. The number set in the site config applies to all pages. You could create a page1_main.html file using the default featured listings tag. This template file would only be used on the main page of the site. Then use the 'Multiple Featured Listings Display Options' addon to setup a tag to use in your main.html file. The addon would let you set the number of featured listings to diplay and the template to use.
