    Default Email From Address

when using the "email a friend" and "contact agent" popup forms, the resulting email message does not have a "From" address. This makes it difficult to reply to messages generated from OR, both for "friends" and for agents who receive inquiries about listings.

I'm not finding a reason why in the contact.inc.php file.

Has anyone had this problem that could help me fix.

    Thanks

    Maybe i misunderstand your question!?
The contact agent, and the friend mail pop up has a field: Your Email
so they can reply to this address.
The friend mail has a link to the listing, so if he want to contact the agent, he can do it from the listing page.

Yes, the "your email" info does show in the body of the email message but not in the header, so just clicking on the reply button in email clients creates a new message without an address to send to. You have to manually copy or type the address.

How can I make the "your email" address show as the "From" address in the messages' header?

Hmm, something must be different about my setup.

I'm using OR 2.5.2 and receiving the messages in Entourage on MacOS 10.4.11

I'll see if other email clients are having the same trouble.

I also tried sending a email friend message to you, Ryan. Did you receive it?

I went to your site and I sent an email to myself. I received the email with the email address at the "From" field. I see no problem at all.

    Thanks everybody!

I guess it is just in Entourage/Mac for some reason.
My client gets them correctly, so I guess that is the most important.

    Thanks again for the testing.

Thanks for this post, I never thought to check this and it's not working for me either. I receive the form submission (From line is blank) and when I click the reply button, the reply email address of the submitter is not inserted into the "To" field in the reply email. The email address is IN the form submission but just clicking that is not only not user-friendly (people are used to clicking the reply button) but the original msg is then not included in the reply. It's also not user-friendly to have to copy/paste their email address and if you wanted to, their original message so you can reply to it.

I'm wondering if this may be related to the issue with ^M's
(character returns in the contact form headers) needing to be removed because some email servers don't handle character returns well. I posted about this in another thread and posted a bug report. I will go edit my bug report post in case they're related.
