Thread: Friendly URL

    Default Friendly URL

The friendly URL option grabs the "{listing_title}" and uses it to form the final URL.

How and where can I change that option to show a custom field that I create "{custom_title}" instead of "{listing_title}"?

Thanks in advance for your help

You can change it on the SEO tab in site config.

    How so?

I don't see that option available on Version 2.5.2 under SEO config.

    Thank You

I was thinking of the listing page title, not the link. To change the link you would have to go through the OR files and change the code that generates the links. The links are generated in multiple areas. Most of them should be in the search.inc.php and the listing.inc.php files.

Keep in mind that core file changes are not recommended or supported. If you upgrade in the future, you will lose the changes you made.

I would also suggest that you upgrade to the current version as there have been security fixes since 2.5.2 was released.

I did try your suggestion but I am not having success getting it to work.

I edited the only instance that reffered to {listing_title} in the file listing.inc.php and changed it to the field I created an nothing happened.

    Any other suggestions...

    Thank you

Moved to Sandbox forum. Posts that involve core files changes must only reside in the Sandbox forum.

Search for all instances of listing- and you will find the code that generates the links. You must also do this in the search.inc.php file.

I did search for and changed all instances having no effect on the final URL.

    The search.inc.php file has no instances that refer to {listing_title}

    Thanks.

There has to be a solution for this...

    Anyone???

Thanks in advance for your help.

Did you read my last post? Search for 'listing-'. You're not going to find {listing_title} in the code as that is a template tag. Template tags are not used inside of the code except in the functions that replace the tag with the actual value.

With all due respect and with genuine appreciation for your help,
I have to ask you to be more detailed as it is very difficult for a layman
to understand what exactly you mean.

I did find the listing_title tag in the listing.inc.php file.

Now you saying to go find listing-

and then what? DO i replace all listing- instances?

Also, if the tag {listing_title} is replaced with listing- what would I replace the tag {headline}?

    Thanks for your time
