    Take the code I put above and put it in an htaccess file and upload it to your server.

    No the search pulls by region but not by property title. Is is possible to pull the title from the db as spip does and put it in the url.
    Spip example http://www.southerntimes.net/atelier...article37.html is the rewrite of http://www.southerntimes.net/article.php3?id_article=37

    It doesn't seem that difficult to do. It will take some minor changes function used to build listingview page. For example, I changed my userview page to pull in the username as opposed to the user ID. So www.home2sell.net/userview.php?userID=1 was changed to www.home2sell.net/userview.php?uname=aferree by rewriting the functions used to build the page.

    This was then rewritten to www.home2sell.net/userview/aferree/

    I used the rewrite scripts to redirect http://www.yoursite.com/123 to http://www.yoursite.com/open-realty/...?listingid=123

    How can I get the browser address bar to remain showing http://www.yoursite.com/123 instead of the actual long url?

    here's my flavor, never had a problem:

    Code:
    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /
    RewriteRule ^listing/([0-9]+) listingview.php?listingID=$1

    I see, I am using a different rewrite scipt copied from others.

    Code:
    RewriteEngine on
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^/([0-9]+)$
    RewriteRule ^(.*) /OR/listingview.php?listingID=%1 [L,R]
    However, I notice your rewrite script has some link issue for the java imgchange.

    http://www.awdcars.co.uk/yourname/awdcars_listing/1
    Goto the demo and try pointing to different listing picture.
    Else would be nice to retain the shorter URL.

    Hi iceman

    found the problem

    ///
    <SCRIPT Language="JAVASCRIPT">
    function imgchange(name)
    {
    if (document.images)
    {
    document.main.src = "http://www.awdcars.co.uk/youdomain/images/listing_photos/" + name;
    }
    else { document.main.src = "http://www.awdcars.co.uk/yourdomain/images/nophoto.gif";
    }
    }
    </SCRIPT>
    ///

    was not pointing to the images file
