    Default XML-importer

I've been looking for a script that can import listings to my OR-site from an external XML-feed.

Do any of you know where to find a script like that?

    Thanks

This is the most requested feature that I am asked for from my websites. I would pay to get this addon.

This is the proper O-R Forum Area for you to post the job:

It would hardly be a generic add-on but an exclusive one.

I actually did this once for a client - we only needed a one time pull in of the data.

However since each XML feed is different - it isn't really an addon I can give away or sell. It would need to be customized to your feed.

Contact me if you are interested.

Sorry I meant that I would pay for a commercial addon if someone did not want to release a free one.

I have just written one, but it is at the moment specific to my fields.
It would not be hard to customise to any one site's fields and classes.
I will look at customising it so that fieds, classes etc can be selected on a form page in the addon.
The sites that you are taking the feeds from would each have to produce an xml feed formatted to the template created by the addon, in the form stipulated by you, ie numerical fields only numerical, types possibly mapping to fixed type values from your db etc .

I am thinking aloud, just came back to work from a forced break.

Something like that could be done, but there might well be work to be done on each site that is exporting unless they have someone who is capable of constructing the feed.

    So not neccessarily simple.

There is, however, not much difference beween an import script for xml and the TT mls import fubction, why not ask at transparent technologies if they would be interested in making a modified version of their addon, there is probably a reasonably big market?

    Best,
    Rob

    Dear lovelyvilla and others

I have developed a generic add-on to support any xml feed for open reality. Danielnsa bought it from me and he guided me to this thread. If any of you interested on the add-on please contact me.

I hope Daniel will give his feedback here about my generic add on.

    Regards
    Rinsad

I have bought Rinsads XML-importer and it looks good.

I have still not used it for my live site yet.

Some of the features in the importer are:

    • XML-import from partners that can be done by CRON
    • Import of images from their server
    • Update of the listing in the database when it is updated in the feed
    • When the listing is updated, the listing keeps its listing ID
    • When the listing is removed from the feed the listing is deleted from my db
    • An interface in the Admin section where I define which xml-tages belongs to which listing fields.
    • In the admin I can also define if the listing is featured or if it should be exported.

I have seen some users asking for a XML-importer to OR. Maybe you can use this.
