    Default Side Bar too short

    I added a background picture in my navigation bar and the main page. I added an agreement page that is very long. It goes past the menu column of the left. The main column adjusts with the contents in the side bar. but the navigation bar does not. I have a large white box below the side bar.

    How do you add a background to the entire table , so when I add a page with extra long content the navigation bar (menu) won't get a white box? It needs to adjust with each page.

    I found a very odd solution to my white box problem. I changed the border style from solid to dotted. I pulls the background down to the bottom, but puts very large dots widely spaced down the side. I made the border color to match the color theme so now the dots are a burnt rusty color #993300. I tried other values like dashed, ridge, none, hidden and they look worse. Who ever thought of putting the navigation bar inside the border. I love doing html from scratch and php is fun too, but this style sheet stuff is odd.
    I have an old version of this program. Everytime I check out the demo for the new version it has warnings all over it. Not a good promotion for your product. Don't really want to upgrade if you can't get it right either.
    If anyone can help me get rid of the dots, I would appreciate it.

    My dotted solution does not work in Firefox. I fell like I am talking to myself here. There are people visiting this post, so there are people out there looking for a solution to the same problem. Please help.

    No one is responding because you are basically saying: "My car makes a noise, what is wrong with it?"

    If you are working with <div> tags in your HTML code you are going to have to work with CSS too. They go hand in hand.

    A link to your site where this is not working would be good for starters, no way someone can debug what is a code problem without actually seeing aforementioned code.

    Running your page through a XHTML/CSS validation tool is never a bad idea either:

    Thanks for the response. You responded to me yesterday too. Thanks. You told me to download the new version. I checked out your demo. The demo has warnings all over the page. They are back again today so I don't have much insentive to download it.
    Here's the link to my site. It is not a real estate site and it not really up yet because I am trying to fit it
    http://craftershouse.com/shop/index.php
    Click my long page
    http://craftershouse.com/shop/index....splay&PageID=6
    Or click the Merchant Signup. You will see the white boxes where the background does not reach the bottom. I might not have put the right column perfectly but the boxes are below both.

    Does this problem exist in the new version? Can you add a right column in the new version.

    Here's where I added the right table.

    #leftcol{
    width:170px;
    float:left;
    position:relative;
    margin-left:-170px;
    margin-right:1px;
    background-image: url("{template_url}/images/copper.jpg");
    background-repeat: repeat-y;
    background-position: top right;
    text-align: left;
    }

    #outer{
    border:solid white 0px;
    /*/*/ border-left-width: 170px ; /* left column width. NN4 hack to hide borders */
    border-left-color: #FFFFFF; /* left column colour */
    border-left-style: solid;
    background-image: url("{template_url}/images/copper.jpg");
    background-color: none; /* center column colour */
    width: auto;

    /*/*/ border-right-width: 170px ; /* right column width. NN4 hack to hide borders */
    border-right-color: #FFFFFF; /* right column colour */
    border-right-style: solid;
    background-image: url("{template_url}/images/copper.jpg");
    background-color: none; /* center column colour */
    width: auto;
    }

    #rightcol{
    width:170px;
    float:right;
    position:relative;
    margin-right:-170px;
    margin-left:1px;
    background-image: url("{template_url}/images/copper.jpg");
    background-repeat: repeat-y;
    background-color: none;
    background-position: top right;
    text-align: center;
    }
    I can live with the white boxes on the long page, but when you move from page to page after you login. the white box gets bigger and smaller at the bottom of the right column.
    The main center column adjusts with the navigation column so why doesn't the new right column adjust?

    Did you go away to fix the warning notes on the demo? I just check it. It is fine now.

    You sure can if you know XHTML and CSS.

    Improper HTML/CSS is not Open-Realty version specific, it is web designer specific. In other words, you created the problem.

    Also, I said we'd need to see a link to your site, not a CSS snippet.

    What did you get when you ran your page through the validation service?
