    Default English language versions

    I'm currently translating the English language files to French and Spanish but I find a number of errors in them. These must make it hard for non-native speakers of English to translate into their own language. So I think there should be a native English speaker charged with correcting the English files.

    We already have translators for French and Spanish (http://code.google.com/p/langfiles4or/people/list), but your help is also very welcome. Please read:

    About English language files, feel free to post at this thread the errors you found - I will be more than glad to fix them after confirming with Ryan and SK.

    Hi Eduardo
    Yes, I'm one of the translators which is why I posted. One mistake I noticed yesterday was in lines 43 and 44 in versions/3.0.0 where twitter is used as a verb. It should be tweet. Most other mistakes are spelling or typing errors but I'll send any that I notice to this thread as I work through the translations.

    I don't confirm it... These are lines 43 and 44 (3_0_0.inc.php):
    PHP Code:
    $lang['social_twitter_password'] = 'Twitter Password';
    $lang['social_twitter_username'] = 'Twitter Username'
    "Twitter" is not being used as a verb.

    OK Eduardo - I just tend to use my user name from when I worked in a department of education "ed" + my initials "taa". I found another error in the same file line 81:
    Your server have - should be singular "has" not "have". Shall I post these individually or collect up all the ones in a given file and send together?

    You are right. That was a language variable created by me so I have created the error.
    I am changing it at our repository. Thanks!

    Sorry Eduardo, you are quite right in regard to these lines. I got the lines wrong, twitter is used as a verb in lines 52, 53 and 54.

    Hi Terry,

    I had to read a bit about it and I got surprised: there are no errors at those lines.
    It may sound strange to you (it does to me!) but "to twitter" or "to tweet" are acceptable verbs. Go figure!

    Yeah, it does sound strange. Especially since the Twitter button is marked Tweet! Still, I think the article is right and that both can be used as verbs but most tweeps seem to prefere tweet.
