    Default How to build an Open-Realty 2.x Style Slideshow in Open-Realty 3.x

    Hi,

    So we have had a few customers ask how to build a Open-Realty 2.x slideshow in Open-Realty 3.x They are looking for a slideshow that autoplays, does not have thumbnails, and has Next/Prev Buttons.

    Placing the code below into your listing detail page will generate this type of slideshow. You can use CSS to style to links etc to you site's look and feel. This example will show up to 6 images, if your listings have more simply add more {image_full_fullurl_X} tags.

    Code:
    {hide_printer_friendly}
    	<div class="slide_images">
    		<div class="items">
    		{image_full_fullurl_1}
    		{image_full_fullurl_2}
    		{image_full_fullurl_3}
    		{image_full_fullurl_4}
    		{image_full_fullurl_5}
    		{image_full_fullurl_6}
    		</div>
    	</div>
    	<a class="prev" >Prev</a>	<a class="next">Next</a>
    	<div class="clear">&nbsp;</div>

    <style>
    .slide_images{
    width:500px;
    position:relative;
    height:375px;
    overflow:hidden;
    }
    .slide_images .items{
    width: 20000px;
    position:absolute;
    }
    .slide_images .items a {
    float:left;
    }
    </style>

    <script>
    $(".slide_images").scrollable({ effect: "fade", circular: true }).autoscroll({interval:500});
    </script>

    {/hide_printer_friendly}

    We are using the JQuery Tools Scrollable library to make the slideshow. See http://flowplayer.org/tools/scrollable/index.html for the docs on this library.

    hmm. ok
    got it and it's working on my site!
    Thank you Ryan.

    Just wondering if there is a way to resize the images?
    The height and width only seem to frame the image at a LARGER size.

    Hi Ryan

    Thanks much for this

    Is there a way to not have it autoplay? As in a start stop autoplay button. And also to display in PF

    I wanted this for the listing detail page so that when a listing does not use the best image for the printer friendly page, the client can select what image they want to print on the pf page.

    Okay So I worked out how to make it not autoplay just remove the .autoscroll({interval:500})

    Now lets see, is there a way in the JQuery Scrollable docs to stop it from displaying all the images in the array when you make it so it appears on the printer friendly page.

    Ummmmm........ Nope! So second part of the question still stands . How do I get it to display the current image only in the printer friendly page.

    Cheers

    Hi Tut

    To be helpful instead of dismissive

    In place of image_full_fullurl_# you can use image_thumb_fullurl_# which will give you the thumbnails instead of the large images.

    (Dont forget to adjust the style so it matches the thumbsize)

    However if you want a size in between then since it is an url that is returned with the tag image_full_fullurl_#

    I presume you can wrap it in standard <img html to vary image height and width.

    I havent tried it though, so if its succesful let us know

    cheers

    I like this slideshow and have it working on DiscoverAltus.com. However, the client is complaining that the quality of the photos is poor.

    Does anyone know of a way to improve the photo quality while still using this slideshow?

    Thank you!

    If the source (full image) photos are smaller than the dimensions you are using to display them with in the slideshow, that will definitely happen. Using the thumbnail instead of the full image would also do it. The solution: use larger source photos. Also, make sure you don't have OR set to re-size your originals on upload to be smaller than what you want to use here.

    This is working very well, although I would prefer not to have each photo in the slideshow link to a separate page with the individual picture. I replaced {image_full_fullurl_#} with {image_full_#}, but the links are still there. Is there another way, or would I need to change something in the javascript? Thanks!
